Trusting God’s Timing: Learning to Wait with Faith

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”Psalm 27:14 (NIV®)

Let’s be honest—I don’t like waiting. Whether it’s impatiently tapping my foot at a slow traffic light or sighing at a microwave that isn’t moving fast enough, waiting just doesn’t come naturally to me. And if I’m honest, I’ve sometimes carried that same impatience into my relationship with God.

Have you ever felt that way? You’ve prayed, read your Bible faithfully, listened to sermon after sermon… and yet, you're still waiting for God to move. You might even start to wonder, “Lord, are You even paying attention?”

But Scripture is filled with people who waited—longer and harder than most of us ever will.

  • Abraham and Sarah waited for a child.

  • The Israelites waited decades to enter the Promised Land.

  • Anna waited her whole life in the temple just to catch a glimpse of the Messiah.

  • Even Jesus waited until the right time to begin His ministry.

God is not slow—He’s deliberate. And His timing is always perfect, even when it feels frustrating or uncertain to us.

The truth is, waiting isn’t about being idle—it’s about trusting. While we may not be able to control the timeline, we can control our attitude. Will we grow bitter and restless? Or will we choose to believe that God sees us, knows us, and is working behind the scenes?

Think About It

Has there been a time in your life—or someone you know—when God’s timing protected you from a mistake or opened a door you didn’t expect? Let those moments remind you today that God is never late. He’s just preparing the perfect moment.

A Prayer for the Waiting Season

Heavenly Father, I confess that I often struggle with impatience. I want to rush ahead when You’re calling me to be still. Help me to trust in Your timing, to rest in Your goodness, and to remember that Your plans are always for my best. Fill me with Your peace and give me the strength to wait with grace and confidence. I know that You see me, You love me, and You’re working all things together for my good. In Jesus’ name, amen.
